“Forming a new generation of young people to live missionally”

What:

Catalyst is a grass roots missional networking organization that fosters the development of a missional perspective in life and vocation by connecting individuals, who are serious about cultivating such a perspective, with needful communities around the world, who are intentionally participating with God in God’s actions in their contexts, for a duration of one or two years.

Who:

Catalyst focuses upon involving young people – primarily college-aged and in early young adulthood, who are seeking vocational direction and are desirous of integrating a perspective in  life of actively participating with God in God’s global mission into their future vocations and lifestyles.

Why

Often students come out of college with a perspective or worldview that seeks personal comfort and success, rather than service.  That is the case because for many students the only dream in which they have been formed is a global economic dream of wealth and success.  In response Catalyst provides a long term missional ministry experience that immerses young persons in global cultural and environmental contexts in order to become part of a community of persons which is intentionally participating with God in God’s mission in their setting. 

This experience stands in contrast to short-term mission trips and does not push an agenda on the participants beyond developing an ability to see, hear, and participate with whatever God is doing in the world so that the rest of their lives may be infused with a missional (missio Dei, life under the rule of God) perspective.  Catalyst is an organization that seeks to match participants’ passions and skills with appropriate missional communities around the world in order to foster a missional perspective that is shaped and grows out of the relationships that can only be built through long-terms engagements and commitments.
